Hannah Olive
Bio
When Hannah Olive was a child, she would often get in trouble for making glorious, artistic messes. As a queer, neurodivergent sculptor and installation artist, she’s kept up the tradition ever since. Her work has appeared in multiple galleries and publications across Utah. Since 2021, Hannah’s passion has been gathering and showcasing queer stories. Recently, she was recognized by the Scholarly and Creative Undergraduate Learning Partnership Team (SCULPT) for her artistic research into the LGBTQIA+ Interfaith community of Utah. She was awarded the Excellence and Innovation Igniter Fund Grant to create an interactive installation celebrating those queer stories of faith. When she's not making art, Hannah can be found collecting bones and talking too much about the plots of video games.

Statement
Loud. Too much. Rabid. Earnest to a fault.
These are the words that have been used to describe my work by teachers, strangers, and friends.
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am a voracious collector and enthusiastic sharer of stories and data. I cannot sit still with the narratives and questions I find. They spill out of me in a deluge of textures and colors. A medley of fiber, tape, and whatever else is on hand, that I affectionately call “piñata grunge”.
Not very far below this surface, you will find dialectics: the art of holding two differing ideas at once, and knowing that they can both be true. Things you thought were mutually exclusive may overlap more than they seem. How there is power in righteous fury and power in radical love, and that the awfulness in the world can be faced with both humor and empathy.
